Episode Review

Blueberry begins to tell the berrykins a story she wrote. It was a very windy, cold day when Postmaster Bumblebee comes in with a whole bunch of mail. Jadeybug expresses her relief to see he's alright and the Postmaster decides that due to the weather, it was not a good day to be delivering mail.

Blueberry shows up to ask if anything came for her, explaining that she was expecting a new Patty Persimmon book and comments how she hates to wait. She thanks Orange for a nice drink before leaving, since she doesn't want to get home too late. As she leaves, Orange whispers that Blueberry is normally a very patient girl, except when it comes to her books.

Blueberry returns to Blueberry Books. As she opens the door, the strong wind knocks Bosley and several books off the table. Bosley gets stuck in a tennis racket. Blueberry notices Bosley having trouble and goes to help him. He apologizes for ruining her tennis racket but she assures him it's fine and that it was old anyway, before she explains that she must wait for her book since they cannot send or deliver any mail at the snowy weather. Bosley suggests she could use some ice skates to reach the book she desires so much, but it is a very long way to ice skate.

The following morning Blueberry has a butterfly help her by steering the ice skates and she slides across Berry Bitty City as others begin to see her and curiously watch. Eventually Blueberry returns with her long awaited book but before she can begin reading it she's quick to be interrupted. Many others have shown up, wanting to see her "flying boot things". She offers to make them some if they gather some butterflies and old tennis racks but expresses her sadness as she now has to wait even longer to read the book she's been waiting for.

And so, the following morning everybody is enjoying their new icy skites as Blueberry gives Orange her pair, including the matching butterfly and she sits down to resume reading her book. Bosley asks her if she's all done and then he tries to cheer her up when her cellphone begins to go off! It's a call from ladybug Lois who works at the "Berry Bitty Dale Berry Sporty Sports" store. She's called to ask Blueberry if she would be interested in working with her to manufacture a whole bunch of Icy Skites, including matching outfits. They also want her to make a commercial for the website. Blueberry is a bit excited, but she's unsure if she can actually get all of the items she needs. In hopes of helping her again, Bosley encourages her to give it a try, and suggests that she asks the other girls for help.

Stopping momentarily, the baby berrykins ask Blueberry if she could make them the skites. Blueberry resumes the story after answering them. Raspberry aids Blueberry in making a cute outfit, then she goes to Plum to learn dance moves for the commercial. Over the course of time however, Blueberry struggles with trying to make decisions. Everyone keeps trying to go for girly, figure-skater type things but she needs sporty things. She then has to deal with the same thing with Lemon, Cherry, and Strawberry.

Cherry suddenly leaves upon realizing she forgot her lyric pages and Blueberry confronts her worry to Strawberry and explains that she wants to think up her own ideas and she just needed only a little bit of help from the others but they want to do all of the work and won't listen to her ideas. Strawberry tells her that she should just be honest with them since she won't be happy until she does. Eventually a while later, the four girls worry that Blueberry may be messing everything up and making a big mistake but Strawberry asks them if they were trying to help her. Plum informs her that Blueberry did ask them all for advice but she didn't use any of it.

In the end, they decide that they should let Blueberry do what she wants, and hope that it turns out okay while giving her support.

Later, Blueberry begins her commercial as Cherry records the entire thing and she then gives Cherry and Strawberry her music so that they can perform it and record it to edit it into the commercial. They have no idea what sort of tune to use however and ask Blueberry to hum it and they can just write down the notes.

That evening the girls worry that Blueberry may not be able to
design herself right while they anxiously wait for her to begin showing the commercial. Even the towns citizens have shown up to see it! Blueberry then welcomes, and thanks everybody for showing up and she begins to air it!

After the commercial ends, everybody congratulates Blueberry for doing so well and even comment on how happy they are that she used her own material instead of their own, since it worked so much better with the commercial.

Back at the Cafe they continue to insist how well she did and asks if she plans to pursue any of those other talents she apparently can do. But Blueberry only says that she plans to just go home and read her book and she gets a call from the Sports store. Then at the Book Club meeting, Blueberry tells the others that she wants their help with a mystery book she's going to write. She was very disappointed by the ending of her book so she wanted to write her own instead. As the others find out that she dedicated her new book to them they thank her as her story ends.

Back with the Berrykins, the one asks if she really did write a mystery book, to which she confirms she did. However Blueberry warns them that it may be just a teensy bit scary for them, so they'll have to wait until their older. Then another asks if they could write a book someday and as the episode ends Blueberry tells the Berrykin that it can if it tries.

  • Blueberry: I made them of an old tennis racket. I call them "Icy Skites".
  • Berry girls: Icy Skites?
  • Blueberry: (laughs) Yeah, like skating on ice skates and flying a kite - Icy Skites.

Blueberry learns that consulting with other people is good, but she is not obliged to accept their advice and critiques, in case they do not fit her project (for instance, the dance Plum taught her was too serene for a commercial that must be dynamic and energetic), and there is nothing rude about rejection. She should have used her discretion to decide what was suitable for the commercial.

  • This is episode 3 of 4 that Blueberry has made into a story.
  • Many berrykins show up with wrong colored faces during the music video.
  • Starting with this episode, Blueberry's voice began to gradually grow a bit higher during the series.
  • The only episode in which Jadeybug flies.
