A Berry Grand Opening is the pilot for Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures. It was released in 2008 on DVD but did not air on television.
Summary[]
With the Berry Bitty Cafe opening soon, Strawberry decides to throw an opening party! But with her friends busily trying to help out and some confusion from the Berrykin, Strawberry must quickly try to make the best out of the situation to ensure everything goes well.
Episode Review[]
With a few hours remaining Strawberry has a couple of tasks left to finish before her new Cafe opens. She asks some Berrykins to lend her a hand by speaking with her friends to get an update on their parts of the preparation. Once they go she decides to have her cat Custard join them to make sure they do what she asked.
The first stop is at Plum Pudding's Studio where they find her outside practicing. Unfortunately, they misheard Strawberry and tell Plum that the dance she's supposed to perform was the Hula. Plum resumes practice and manages to effortlessly switch dance style before heading off for the Cafe.
Next, the Berrykins head over to see Raspberry Torte at her Boutique in order to retrieve Strawberry's dress. But they do not remember which dress it was, believing she said "rose" instead of "bows", so the dress the pick up causes Raspberry to sneeze uncontrollably.
As this is going on, Plum shows up at the Cafe to ask Strawberry about the dance routine out of concern. This causes Strawberry to realize the Berrykin made a mistake.
At Orange Blossom's Orange Mart, the Berrykin recall that Strawberry wanted something orange and sparkly, but once again they can't recall what she exactly said. Orange pulls out anything fitting this description, such as vases, tablecloth, even laundry detergent. The Berrykin are unsure, so they ask her to bring anything fitting the description with her to the party and they take off, heading over to Blueberry Muffin's Bookstore. Strawberry told them that Blueberry put all of the recipes she used into a single book, but not whether she wanted one copy to display, or a copy for all her friends, which is what the Berrykin assume. They do not remember which book though, but fortunately, Blueberry realizes that Strawberry probably wants copies of her book.
Back at the cafe, Orange shows up with everything but what Strawberry requested. By now she's become convinced that something must be wrong.
At their final stop, Lemon Meringue's Beauty Salon the Berrykin somehow convince Lemon to give Custard a clown makeover; but what Strawberry actually asked for was some fruit-themed crowns for the party.
With everything finished, the Berrykin return just as Blueberry complains to Strawberry regarding their lack of memory. Strawberry decides to gently remind the Berrykin the importance of listening to others as Raspberry and Lemon show up. While things aren't exactly what she wanted, Strawberry decides to just make the best of it until she worriedly spots Custard in trouble; she's become air-born from some dandelions and they need to help her before she gets hurt when it hits the ground.
Hurriedly, Strawberry grabs a nearby tablecloth and makes everyone grab an edge, and with the hula dance they follow Custard until she can land safely on the cloth.
The Berrykin believe it was their "listening" that saved the day, but Strawberry reminds them that it was teamwork, and they were just lucky that things worked out the way they did.
The party begins as the episode concludes.
