Episode Review

Rainbow Ruined
Strawberry is in the middle of making the world's very first rainbow smoothie. She notices that something is missing, including the strawberry flavoring and quickly tries to make it to add. But when she checks the tap, blue smoothie comes out - and after she tries a few others they have the same result of not providing the flavor listed. By the time she is able to finally find it, it's been too long and the drink has began to melt.

The girls head over to the Berryworks to do some investigating and see many confused Berrykins running about and panicking. Princess Berrykin explains a baby berrykin is the reason that this is going on. His powerful sparkles can change the colors of anything, even though berrykin sparkles are only supposed to work on berries.

The baby falls over and Strawberry helps him up before he runs from her once more. The other berrykins proceed to give chase, trying to capture him. Princess Berrykin is rather upset and explains that this will cause problems for an upcoming event and she doesn't know what will happen because of it. Strawberry offers to watch the baby berrykin for now to let them work and the other girls agree to lend her a hand. But first they need to find it; so they split up and try to find it.

To avoid being caught, the Baby Berrykin turns himself green to blend in with the grass and plants until Strawberry gets the idea on how to find him. They pretend to leave and begin to walk away so that he lets his guard down. When suddenly she sees a green berry

and they go on to say its the wrong color. They pretend to argue about the best color in order to make him pop out and change the berry back to red. Realizing he's been caught, Strawberry greets him and he asks her to play with him.

After Strawberry explains what "asking permission" is, she takes him home with her while Princess Berrykin worries slightly, but seeing no harm in it, she hopes this will help the baby learn.

Later, Strawberry and Orange are laying around while watching the baby play in the nearby fountain. When they notice he suddenly changed the water yellow, they run to Salon when Plum mentions baby oil has suddenly been put into her hair. Lemon offers to wash it out again as Strawberry tries to explain to the baby what he did. But before they get to it, he runs out and they split up to try to locate him - only to meet back up at Mr. Longface's golf course. There, the baby proceeds to cause havoc by turning all the balls the color green, they can't see the balls and have to quit playing.

Eventually at Raspberry's, Blueberry is trying on a hat Raspberry has made. Strawberry almost catches the baby when he runs into Raspberry's boutique and begins to change all of the colors. As the magic floats around, Strawberry tells the baby berrykin he has to ask before doing things when the magic suddenly changes her hat blue. Just as Mr. LongFace comes in, the Berrykin baby hides behind Strawberry.

Strawberry has an idea of how to show the baby the consequences of his actions, and he hesitates until Strawberry tells him to trust her. Strawberry and Blueberry show the baby how to play Golf with a worried Mr. LongFace. But she assures him that everything will be fine; except for the ball that almost hits him. Blueberry takes her turn and her ball is turned green, causing Blueberry to pretend she lost it. The girls tell the Baby Berrykin that they can't play until they find a blue ball. The baby wants to play more, but the girls say they cannot unless he figures out whose ball goes to who, so he changes them back to normal.

They keep playing when Strawberry asks if the Berrykin can help change everything back to normal. They first stop at Raspberry's boutique and get it put back to normal. She thanks the Berrykin and they head to see Lemon, who was left in a colorful mess due to the baby berrykin. Initially, he thinks she looks pretty, but Strawberry tells him that it's not what he thinks, but what others think about themselves. So, he changes her back to normal, as well as everything else, including Strawberry's hat.

At Strawberry's Cafe, the baby is busy in the middle of coloring when she shows him the rainbow smoothie she has made. As the baby berrykin comments on how tasty the drink is, Strawberry admires the picture he drew, then tries to look for a specific crayon but to no luck so she asks him instead to change them. However, thinking that his special sparkles are bad, the berrykin refuses to use his sparkles. Strawberry tells him that his sparkles are good, he just needs to know whether or not it's okay to use them on something, and that all he needs to do is ask if he doesn't know. The baby berrykin thanks her as the episode comes to an end.

Quotes

  • Strawberry: Well baby berrykin is too smart for us.
  • Orange: You're so right.
  • Raspberry: I guess we better be going home.

----

  • Baby Berrykin: Strawberry come play, Strawberry come play!
  • Princess Berrykin: What do you say?
  • Baby Berrykin: Thank you, Strawberry.

Lessons

Strawberry makes the baby Berrykin understand, in her gentle and patient way, that his actions cause inconvenience to others. Even though the baby is very small, he learns that having fun does not mean do whatever he wants, and he should consider other people's feelings.

Trivia

  • This is the first appearance of a baby berrykin.
  • Plum's hair looks a bit different while it's wet, than what it usually looks like wet.

Goofs

  • As the group stand at the berry works, the pose changes between them multiple times, such as: first showing Raspberry next to Strawberry, then when she says "hi" to the Berrykin, Raspberry is nowhere to be seen; then in the next part, Blueberry, who came out at the end had gone missing.
  • The blue color on Strawberry's hat dims over the course of time. But this could be to light, or just a sign that it's slowly changing back.
